10/10/10: White boneset or thoroughwort. I'm letting it bloom but I won't let it grow next yr. Takes up too much real estate in my veggie garden.

  1. Well if so when the hell is it going to bloom? It's five feet tall with nary a bloom in sight. I hope you're right. This year I won't yank it out of the ground in frustration.

  2. Could it be a joe pye weed? They get tall and bloom late.

  3. I think your plant is a mexican petunia that needs lots of sun - it flowers are purple.

  4. I'm pretty sure it's not Joe Pye weed. Got lots of that in the park next door and it's smaller and already blooming. And I can't honestly say it looks like the pictures I found online of a Mexican petunia. The plant is now about 6 feet tall and no blooms yet. Don't all plants have some flowers or buds eventually?? Maybe not.

  5. Wait!! I think Theora might be right. I was mixing up milkweed with joe pye weed. My apologies for doubting your guess. I should know for sure in the next month or so.
